:)

I am in jinja now and settling into a new schedule and life out here with Serving His Children. So much is going on and I am learning a ton! I have news that trumps all of my other life changes though and will dominate my post today.......

I'm ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Saturday Daniel got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife :)

Many are asking for the details of the story, so allow me to brag up my amazing fiance for a bit. I moved out to jinja the middle of last week and quickly realized (the first day) that this job will dominate my days while I'm here.... I am putting in 12-14hr days caring for sick, malnourished little ones at an inpatient malnourishment facility (house) and I live on the property so my job pretty much doesn't end.... That being said, Daniel and I decided that it would be good to have a little relaxing time together this past weekend. He has been itching to go whitewater rafting on the nile for a while and I thought it sounded pretty sweet. He is a pro at planning activities/dates/etc so I didn't think anything of his desire to plan this one. We were to go rafting for the day on saturday and then camp along the nile that night. Rafting was super-- class 3-5 rapids for a good portion of the day. As part of the excursion they served us lunch (yay for not having rice and beans!!) and it began to pour-- like crazy african style. Daniel was a little unhappy about all of this (I later found out why...) but I paid it little mind.. Thankfully the rain was short lived and we were transported to our 'campground'. I use quotes because this place was Stunning!!! It's right along the nile and has beautiful, private facilities and the most incredible showers ever!!! (warm water pouring out with decent water pressure!!!) When we arrived we were greeted by a man who called daniel by name. I thought this was a little odd, but there were very few people at this facility so I dismissed any thoughts about it. After cleaning up a bit we had coffee on the patio overlooking the nile--- beautiful!! A man, charles, approached daniel at one point to take our dinner order... another key point, but something I also dismissed due to the fanciness of this place. It was a little chilly and Daniel was really concerned that I would freeze... more than usual... but I assured him that I was fine. There was an inside seating area and I figured that if I got too cold I could always just go inside. When the time came for dinner, daniel told me to follow him and this waiter man, charles. They were acting kind of funny, but I didn't want to read into it. They took us down an embankment to a tiny motor boat that was docked on the edge of the nile. (by now I was getting rather suspicious) Daniel and I climbed in and were greeted with glasses of wine and a covered tray with our dinner. Charles climbed in with us and took us out to a tiny, lush island in the middle of the nile river as the sun was beginning to set. By now, I had a pretty good idea that something crazy was about to happen ;) They helped me out of the boat and sat me down on some rocks on the edge of the river. Charles then climbed back into the boat, grabbed daniel's phone and the magic happened :) Daniel said some super sweet words, got down on his knee and asked me to be his. In reality, I have no idea what I said....hahaha. But it was incredible!!! He presented me with a beautiful, custom made ring for me for africa :) It's stunning and rich with symbolism!! After Charles took all of his photos, he left us alone on the island to enjoy a fancy dinner and some time to soak up what just happened! He later came to escort us back where we spent the rest of the night basking in the goodness of God!! :) So my hottt man proposed at sunset on the Nile river on our own little private island.....no big deal ;)

I am so blessed and thankful for the incredible man of God I have been given! He is so awesome, smart, godly, etc. I cannot believe the ways that God has orchestrated our story--- it is so clearly divinely appointed! June 2013 I will be Mrs Daniel Bryan Grissom!!!!!!!!!! get ready world!!!
