rescue

so i must be honest and tell you that i initially resented the fact that i would be in the capital (kampala) for the last few weeks of my uganda trip. it's big. it's loud. it's dirty. it does not feel much like africa.

god has been so good in all of it though and has allowed me to do and see things that one can never experience in sheltered little suubi village. this past week, i visited mulago hospital. it's the big refferal hospital for uganda. there, i was able to help 'rescue' an abandoned little baby girl weighing a slight 0.85 kilos (less than 2 pounds for you english people!!) unreal. the conditions are haunting. if you want to hear more, just ask, but i will leave it at that for now...

thankfully and incredibly, baby martha is still fighting for her little life. since being in the care of watoto baby home her vitals are improving and she is getting stronger. it was such a privledge to be a part of saving her. i am left with so many questions now though. i can't plead ignorance any longer. what does god ask of us? of me? .........
