laughing

i'm sure you have heard the saying about how if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.... soooooooo true. don't ever tell God what you won't do. his plans are bigger, better and crazier than what we can dream up!!

when i found out a week ago that i wouldn't be able to start in cali for a bit, i knew it was because god had work for me to do in the interim. I was insistent that i will not spend the next 7 weeks sitting at home getting fat and depressed. i want to live wide open and available. i want to live intentionally.

with that in mind, i have a funny god-style story. after getting the delay news, i was reminded that i have both an NC and CA medical license and could do locums (essentially substitute Dr) work. it would get me back in a US clinic and help ease me back into medicine here before the chaos begins. before coming to NC for a friend visit, my mom joked with me about doing locums back at FMC (my old job). i laughed and dismissed it. i had no intention to ever come back to NC long term, much less RM or FMC (sorry friends, but i just thought i was released to a different adventure). .... well..... friday morning, while i was here in NC, i had some jesus time and told him what i was feeling about this absurd idea. i'm sure he laughed because he had me visit FMC later that morning and did his funny little God work. there are so many 'ironic' pieces to this story, but needless to say, i am blessed to be able to fill a major need exactly when they need it.

so, all this to say, i will be working for a month at FMC starting in a week or two.       :)  my ministry here is not over. a friend of mine gave me a great quote yesterday which i think is so fitting for my life as of late. so i will leave you with this:

the spirit of God rides on the wings of flexibility
